We package your giclee prints and ship them to you rolled up. It saves on shipping costs and assures safe handling.
While canvas is eventually going to be stretched, satin and watercolor will have what we call "memory". When taken out of the tube, they will retain the tendency to return to a roll state. Keep your prints flat and they will lose memory quickly. If you wish us to ship your giclee print flattened please let us know. We will give you an estimate on shipping costs.
As with any fine art reproduction or even original artwork safe handling is advisable. Treat the print with care when mounting or stretching. Canvas is treated with a UV coat and it will take a lot of abuse. One caveat is when stretching on a frame, apply gentle pressure and be patient. Giclee prints on canvas are resilient but may be different to what you are used to.
Satin photographic base is hard to scratch but like any photo paper it will kink. The watercolor fiber we use is the very best and quite thick. As with any watercolor, exercise care not to damage the surface. We do not generally coat it but there are matte treatments that will add protection.
Canvas needs to be coated although one type we carry will be fine without any protection. We are very partial to recommending a top coat because it accomplishes 3 things: it adds extra UV protection, it protects from scratching and it increases blacks and color saturation. Watercolor is different.
We feel that watercolor paper should be left without a top coat to truly look like an original. Watercolor is designed to be exhibited under a glass, which makes coating unnecessary.
