Giclee of a night image

Giclee Printing Services

A giclee canvas print is coated with a degree of proofing against water and UV damage. Some of our papers and pigments do not require any post-printing treatment. As with anything printed or painted, it is a good idea to keep your work not under direct sun light. Coating is a must for canvas. The only time we do not recommend canvas coating to be done by us is when the artist prefers to paint and varnish on his own.

We strive to match our colors through the different papers we use to print your giclees. Through the employment of ICC profiles made for each specific paper, a color consistency is expected. Because profiles are based on a device - independent color space (CIE LAB), they provide "food" for the RIP software to adjust to the paper type. This said, when printing giclees on one type of paper compared to another, there are inherent gamut differences. Delta (The difference expected for different batches) on inks and papers is usually less than 1. In simple terms, expect to order a second set of giclees on the same paper i.e. six months down the road and there should be virtually no change in print colors.

Color correction and minor retouching are offered free of charge. We employ Photoshop layering techniques tuned to maximize tonal rendition and minimize degradation in your giclee print. Adjustment layers prevent the original file from being affected until we are ready to print. For extensive retouching and composition an estimate will be provided and it is based on the time involved.

Upon receipt of your images we will proceed to scan and output a proof and send it to you. Generally proofs are 8X10" and provide good information about color and sharpness. You have the option to call or e-mail us to OK the proof or you can mark it up and send it back for correction. This service is part of what we offer and a minimal fee is described in the Giclee Pricing page.

Artists and photographers with inkjet print ready files: we have a new service available for express giclee printing orders. Lower prices are featured because we print your expertly prepared file with the same care as our custom giclee service without any color corrections or Photoshop work on our part.

Scans for giclee printing are performed for photographic prints and artwork up to 11X14". For larger formats, a high resolution camera is used in our studio to perform the imaging. Maximum size is 50X70".
Mounting on single or double matting is optional. Framing is offered as well. Contact us with questions about your mounting and framing needs.

Shipping and handling charges are calculated depending on the method and carrier used and are extra. Please inquire about the costs. We can generally give you a good estimate prior to service.
